It’s a big year for Canon in the international digital imaging scene as they won four prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) product awards, the highest number the company received in a year. The winning products covered Canon’s extensive collection: a DSLR, a compact digital camera, a video camcorder, and a professional inkjet printer.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark III is recognized as an extremely versatile and easy-to-use DSLR camera, earning the title “œEuropean Advanced SLR Camera 2012-2013″. The EISA jury members praised its 22.0-million-pixel CMOS sensor that consistently produces professional-quality output under both normal- and low-light conditions. The camera also features a continuous shooting speed of six frames-per-second (fps) and a body design that effectively improves resistance.
The Canon PowerShot G1 X won “œEuropean Compact Camera 2012-2013″ for its image quality, which the EISA jury noted is “œat a level that can compete with many DSLRs”””a feat that is “œquite amazing for a camera with such a compact body”. It also reduces image noise (even at high ISO sensitivity settings) through its sensor size and its powerful DIGIC 5 image processor. Processing 14.3-million-pixel, 14-bit images at high speed, the G1 X has a 4x zoom and an efficient built-in image stabilizer that uses the same hybrid IS technology as some professional Canon lenses.
The Canon EOS LEGRIA HF M52 was crowned “œEuropean Camcorder 2012-2013″, highlighting its excellent video quality, high-speed focus, and effective picture stabilization. It has a 32GB built-in memory that provides up to three hours of shooting, and it can accommodate external SD flash memory cards, including SDXC, ensuring that users never run out of space. It also has built in Wi-Fi connectivity for sharing footage, and HD CMOS Pro sensor for superb picture quality. Locally, this model is known as the Canon VIXIA HF M50, which only differs in memory size (8GB).
The Canon PIXMA PRO-1, now known as the “œEuropean Photo Printer 2012-2013″, features 12 high-capacity pigment ink cartridges. The EISA jury panel dubbed it “œthe perfect choice for making long-lasting prints of outstanding quality” and described it as “œfull of modern technology”, delivering “œexcellent quality with relatively low running costs”. It provides visually stunning color rendering, as well as highly-detailed and prominent black-and-white prints through its five dedicated monochrome inks.
Comprising 50 special interest magazines all over Europe and focusing on photography, video, and audio categories, EISA presented awards to the products that were released in Europe within the past 12 months and were deemed the ideal representative of their product category. Launched in 1982, this year marks the EISA Awards’ 31st year. In total, Canon has been honored with 56 EISA awards in a 27-year time span, including 24 consecutive years in which the company received accolades.
In addition to the EISA awards, the EOS 5D Mark III and PowerShot G1 X were named “œBest Video DSLR in 2012″ and “œBest Expert Compact Camera in 2012″ respectively, by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) in April of this year.
