After more than a decade since the release of Doom 3, Bethesda Softworks, the publisher behind the gloried Doom franchise, has finally announced the release date of latest version of the first-person shooter video game.
A lot of work has been put in to the new installment of the game which was first announced to be under development way back in 2009. As id Software’s executive producer Marty Stratton stated, DOOM (2016) will feature “badass demons, big effing guns, and moving really fast”, a staple of the game franchise since the beginning.
Some components of the game from the previous releases will also resurface on the latest version. These include notable weapons such as the super shotgun, as well as the BFG 9000, not to mention familiar villains like the Cyberdemon, Mancubus and Revenant.
DOOM (2016) will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when it’s released on the market on May 13, 2016.
