Mobile payments system company Coins.ph recently rolled out the new Beep card top up feature.
With the latest Android Coins.ph app release, customers with smartphones supporting NFC connections may now top up and check the balance of their Beep cards right inside the app just by tapping the card on the back of the phone, thereby eliminating the need to line up at LRT, MRT, and some bus stations.
However, Beep still has not added support the native “tap to pay” feature of Android that will allow you to pay for your ride solely using your NFC phone.
Payments for topping up will be deducted from the Coins.ph account, and as such, users need to make sure they have sufficient funds on their account first. You can deposit money into your Coins.ph account at several locations in the Philippines such as 7-Eleven, M Lhuillier, Cebuana Lhuillier, and some partner banks.
Beep cards can be used at some of the key transport lines in the metro such as the LRT 1 & 2, MRT 3, BGC Bus, and premium point-to-point bus routes, as well as to pay for toll at NLEX at Cavitex. It can also be used to pay at some retail stores, fast food chains, and movie theaters.
