A new Asus model has been silently unveiled in Taiwan in the form of the Asus ZenFone Ares. The said device is similar to the ZenFone AR, as it is a smartphone specialized for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
Despite a new model, the Asus ZenFone Ares has an old Snapdragon 821 chipset but the Taiwanese smartphone brand made up for this caveat by equipping the device with a whopping 8GB of RAM, plus 128GB of internal storage. Its display is a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD screen in 16:9 aspect ratio. Other specs include an Android Nougat OS and a 3,300mAh stamina.
One of the Asus Zenfone Ares’s main feat is its 23-megapixel main camera with PixelMaster 3.0 high resolution function for motion tracking and depth sensing, since it’s a smartphone intended for AR and VR. This is further complemented with the DTS Headphone:X 7.1 surround sound for audio. Upfront is an 8-megapixel snapper for selfies.
The Asus ZenFone Ares will be available in Taiwan for TWD 9,999 (PhP 17,784). Asus Philippines has yet to announce local availability and pricing.
