During Computex 2011, ASUS also unveiled their own version of the MacBook Air, the UX21. If MacOS is not your cup of tea, and if the black MacBook Air from Samsung just won’t fit your budget no matter how you compute it, then the next best thing is this ASUS UX21.
The ASUS UX21 is an ultra-thin 11-inch laptop that is strikingly similar to the 11-inch MacBook Air. It will have a starting price of less than $1000 when it becomes available in the 4th quarter of the year. The MacBook Air starts at $999 also but expect the UX21 to have a more powerful processor (up to 2nd-generation Core i7).
It will have the same aluminum alloy build and almost the same wight at 2.4 lbs. It will also have USB 3.0, a 2-second wakeup time from Sleep thanks to ASUS proprietary software, SATA 3 SDD and USB 3.0 ports. Basically a more souped up MacBook Air with an attractive price point.
