I’ve known the Archos brand way before they were still making portable media players. Well, they’re already in the Android tablet business but I wasn’t aware of one particular model from their line up that really stood out (shame on me).
The Archos 70 looks just like your ordinary 7-inch Android tablet but there’s one specific model of this tablet that you couldn’t see elsewhere. The Archos 70 comes in either an 8GB version or a 250GB version. That’s not a typo, this tablet has a hard disk inside. It’s a bit chunkier and a slightly heavier than your typical 7-inch tablets but still that’s a whole lot of space for all the videos you need for a very long trip.
It even has a built-in stand so you don’t have to hold the device all the time. Dual speakers on both sides make this a very handy portable video player, just what Archos is known for. Oh and you can also plug this on the big screen to watch your HD videos. Of course, it’s also a WiFi Android tablet so you get all the goodies of an Android 2.2 device. Google integration, E-mail, internet browsing, social network, games… and anything you can get your hands from the Android Market.
This is not a new tablet by any means but I still think there are lots out there who don’t know that such a device exists, an Android tablet with 250GB internal storage. Oh yeah.
The price on this Archos 70 with 250GB storage is now at Php14,999 from P17k early this year. If you want the 8GB version, it’s priced at Php12,999.

where can you buy this one? its fairly cheap
you should be able to see them in major PC shops in malls. I saw them in a bunch of shops at SM Megamall Cyberzone.
Para lang po ba ang battery life ng 250GB sa 8GB na model? and also the weight same lang din po ba?
mas mabigat ng konti ito sa 8gb version.
Pareho* sorry wala pong edit button
Yung OS ba po pwedeng ma-update? at kamusta po yung battery life?
Last time i checked walang plan to upgrade to OS. 2.2 lang talaga.
i haven’t reviewed the unit yet but according to other reviews it’s 5.5 hours worth of video playback. normal use should net you close to 7 hours.
Wow! Thanks Calvin! Another great post! I’ll check that soon…
hey this is nice. i didn’t know this! this would make a really good portable media player na pwede lang pangbrowse. kung wala akong ipod touch 4G na 32GB eto na lang sana kinuha ko.
baka kapag marami na rin laman ung HDD eh bumagal na ng sobra yan?
baka lalo na pagpuno. wag na lang sigurong punuin to be sage… mga hanggang 200GB na lang. may microSD pa naman eh. 😛
Pros for me- Archos is a trusted brand, and internationally known. Although the other features are pretty average, the defining factor for me is the option of a 250GB HDD. That makes this a great media player. Any news and updates sirs on the new G9 Tablets? (Archos 80 G9 and 101 G9) The A70 might have a price slash since there’s a newly released model. I hope they stay within the -20k price bracket. Great review sir!
lalabas yung G9 this month. hintay lang tayo and yes bababa prices ng mga previous Archos.
Aloha:
I should have got one of those. Intstead i opted to try the experimenting with a Nook Color & upgrading it to an Androidztablet. Not to get off the subject but do you know of any app that can download the the Pinoy TV shows. When I go there it says I have to install Microsoft silverlight whiff is impossible.
Mahalo, Jeff…
does anyone know if the archos G9 series is already on sale sa pinas? ive been calling stores and its seems hndisila familiar… thanks in advance 😀
