Apple has managed to raise $200 million through their (PRODUCT) RED sales, so far. (RED) is a non-profit organization that aims to help diminish AIDS in Africa. To help raise money for the Global Fund, Apple sells exclusive smartphones and accessories to users. Each Apple special item is red in color. For every purchase of the merchandise, a portion of the proceeds goes to (RED). (RED) was established in 2006 and has since then raised $600 million for the Global Fund. As their largest corporate donor, Apple has been able to donate the $200 million of the amount. The latest (PRODUCT) RED smartphone of Apple is the XR.
Apple has been pretty transparent in their progress in raising funds. Just recently, the company even shared some updates on (RED) and Global Fund’s fight against AIDS. Things are looking good because, in 2017, there were only 53,000 cases of HIV in Kenya. This means that 4.8% of all adults in the country infected with HIV. This detail is a large improvement considering that 9.3% of all adults in Kenya were HIV- positive back in 2000.
The Global Fund is a partnership organization set with the purpose of accelerating the end of AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria as epidemics. It has come a long way in making sure that people have access to medicines vital for their health. Right now, the Global Fund is capable of supplying 80% of testing kits, ARVs and other medicines in Kenya.
