Charlie Brown, his pals, and his adorable beagle Snoopy will be brought to life once again through Apple’s new Peanuts franchise. DHX Media will produce a new series, specials and shorts starring the gang, after acquiring the majority of rights to the Peanuts franchise in 2017. The original content will premiere through Apple’s new streaming service in 2019.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. Snoopy will get to be an astronaut again in a new series of short-form education videos. This exciting development is part of Peanuts Worldwide’s Space Act Agreement with NASA. This partnership aims to ignite children’s curiosity and passion for space exploration and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
Peanuts is just the latest in a long lineup of production deals secured by Apple. The company has also gotten several companies and celebrities on board their streaming service. These include Sesame workshop, Kevin Durant, Jennifer Aniston, and Kumail Nanjiani. An Amazing Stories reboot and a George Michael series is also reportedly in the works.
