As with the company’s previous product releases, Apple has introduced iOS 9.3 during the launch of the iPhone SE and the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro. The new version of Apple’s operating system was immediately made available to all supported devices, unbeknownst to the tech giant of its caveat, particularly on older devices.
Luckily, Apple was quick to squish the bug, and has now made the updated version of iOS 9.3 (Build 13E236) available to download for iPhone 5s, iPad Air, and anything older than these two devices.
Prior to the patched-up iOS 9.3, Apple users who have tried upgrading their older Apple devices to the latest version of the mobile operating system have been required to key in their Apple ID and password before they can proceed with the upgrade.
Although most users were able to seamlessly upgrade their devices to iOS 9.3, a significant number of users who have forgotten or mistyped their credentials have inadvertently bricked their device in process, causing it to enter in activation limbo.
Users who are now just planning to update their device will no longer have to worry about the bug and should be able to upgrade to iOS 9.3 without any issues. For those, however, who have experienced the bug, Apple has provided a workaround on this link so you can by-pass or remove the Activation Lock feature and hopefully get your device back on track and update to the latest version of iOS.
