This may be old news to some but anyway, the Apple iPad is finally here”¦ officially.
A quick flashback, the iPad was released in the US and on April with the 3G version coming at the end of that month. At the end of May, it was released in 9 more countries including Australia, Canada and UK. Then late June, it arrived in 9 more countries which includes Hong Kong and Singapore.
Six months later, it finally landed in our shores. That’s 8 months since its initial release! And we now hear of rumors of the iPad 2 which is slated to be launched in the first quarter of 2011.
Anyway, it’s a good thing that the iPad arrived well before Christmas. But wouldn’t be surprised if the iPad’s that arrived here would be in limited quantities. I experienced first hand how tough it is to get one in the first couple of weeks when it became available in Singapore. Checking the local Apple Store, they need 3-5 business days before they can ship your order.
Here’s the official pricing of the Apple iPad in the Philippines.
16GB | 32GB | 64GB | |
---|---|---|---|
iPad with WiFi | Php23,990 | Php28,990 | Php33,990 |
iPad with WiFi + 3G | Php30,990 | Php35,990 | Php40,990 |
That’s more like it considering the grey market has been selling it to us at a premium for quite some time now. I would presume that the iPad’s timely arrival will make buyers think twice into getting that Samsung Galaxy Tab.
So who’s getting one this Christmas? If you’re going to buy one from Apple resellers, better call first for availability and reserve that unit (if they accept reservation that is).

iPad is finally here. But still waiting for iPad2. I’m soft of disappointed with iPad (since it’s still the first version) and also a little bit pricy. I rather have iPhone 4. ^_^
Got a chance to play with the iPad at the Digital Hub store in Market! Market! and wow, that thing is HEAVY.
