Sony has already rolled out the new Android upgrade for their Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact models last month. Finally, Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact and XZ Premium users can now enjoy the new scrumptious system that is Android 9.0 Pie.The Android 9.0 update for Sony Xperia XZ series has the build number 47.2.A.0.306 and includes their October 2018 security patches. New features such as Full HD 960p slow-motion video recording and HDR video image enhancement are introduced. Also included in the update is the new Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness modes which use AI learning technology to help users prolong battery life.
Some classic features like the ‘Do not disturb’ setting and camera are made more impressive than ever. The camera interface had a makeover: now sporting a simpler, sleeker design for easier access to its features. Mostly used features can be accessed on-screen, as well as the user’s recently used one. The ‘Do not disturb’ settings have improved manageability with more notification filtering options and faster access to the feature. Additional Sony Xperia settings are now customizable this time with screen rotation options and easier screenshot editing, to name a few.
With a lot of fresh features and improved settings in the Android Pie software for Sony Xperia XZ series, users will hardly miss the new Google Android Pie navigation gestures that are not included in the update.
But don’t despair if you haven’t received an update notification right away. Software rollouts are often phased, meaning the timing of the software vary by device, country and/or operator. However, the availability of updates for models also depends on the specific operator or market.
Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra, and XA2 Plus users will also get to taste the upgrade within the first quarter of 2019.
