Google recently released the developer preview of the Android Nougat 7.1 for beta testers. It’s currently available for the Nexus 5X, a Nexus 6P or a Pixel C. Other devices will have a chance to preview this build in November, and a final public release comes out in December. Users can expect a sudden OTA update should they be enrolled in the beta test program.

The update shows off Daydream VR support, the ability to app shortcuts and circular launcher icons to match the look of the Pixel family of phones. One notable feature that will affect everyone, though, is the restart button in the power menu. The beta also includes image keyboards, which allows the insertion of stickers and GIFs in apps. For those who want to test the Nougat but have not enrolled in the beta, you can also do a manual update by flashing a system image.
