Alienware launched what may be the world’s first fully upgradable gaming laptop at CES 2019. The all-new Area-51m features a replaceable desktop 9th-generation Intel Core processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics.
Aside from the CPU and GPU upgrading capabilities, this mobile gaming machine offers desktop features including a 144Hz G-SYNC 17-inch Full HD display and 64GB DDR4 memory. The Area-51m also features Adavanced Alienware Cryo-Tech v2.0 cooling technology and has a 90Wh battery.
Design-wise, this computer beast is out of this world (pun, intended). Most of the hardware are encase inside the premium magnesium alloy shell of the Area-51m. At the rear is the latest AlienFX lighting, while in front are ultra-narrow bezels framing the display. A three-knuckle hinge connects the screen to the base.
Other features that the Area-51m touts are the next-gen Tobii eye tracking and upgraded Alienware TactX keyboard. For connectivity, this gaming laptop already supports 2.5Gbps Ethernet and Thunderbolt Type-C connection.
