Joining the dual-SIM, dual-core game is Alcatel and their One Touch 997D Explore, a 4.3-inch Android phone with a liquid repellant coat.
The Alcatel OT-997D is designed with a P2i liquid repellant coat which is similar to the liquid repellant nano-coating used in current Motorola Droids. What this simply does is make the phone splash resistant allowing liquid to just bead off the surface.
This phone uses a 4.3-inch WVGA display and is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor with a 1GB RAM running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It also has a 4GB storage and supports microSD for additional space.
Rear camera is at 8-megapixel with autofocus and comes with a flash while the front camera tops at VGA quality. The OT-997D comes with a 1800mAh battery although the company claims that it has an optimized software with a built-in battery saving app to give you more juice out of a single charge.
The Alcatel One Touch 997D Explore is already available at all Alcatel kiosks and selected dealers nationwide for Php11,990.

Dude, pricing lang pambato ng cherry/mp. Lugi sila sa quality. I’d better put some extra money for the quality and reliability. In that case, satisfaction is guaranteed.
I think meron pa din papansin nito, considering na di hamak na mas high quality ang Alcatel kesa sa CM/MyPhone. Specs are good, quality is good. I want one for December!

I’m using Alcatel 990D right now. Matibay siya kaso mababa ang internal memory. Parang gusto kong bumili nito. Maganda kasi ang design ng alcatel at may screen protector kaagad.

Di ko kaagad napansin na may screen protector ang cellphone ko. Nagtanong ako ng invisible screen protector sa SM Clark kung may available para sa Alcatel. Sabi nila wala. Tiningnan niya ang cellphone ko at sabi niya, meron na raw. At saka ko lang napansin na may nakapatong sa screen niya.

Niresearch ko iyang Lenovo P770. Kung iko-convert sa peso ang price lang ay around 11K lang siya. Mas ok siya.
Lenovo P700 is 11k, as against Alcatel OT-997d’s price for its features: Screen is a bit larger, magnetometer(compass), 1 gig ram, pretty good battery life. I’d pay additional php990 for Alcatel

I had both the lenovo a65 and p700i. They both broke less than 6 weeks after purchase. They both had issues with the connection to the screen. I replaced the p700i with the Alcatel 997d and i have to say its a much better and much faster phone. Its blazing fast compared to p700i. Camera is also much better and has led flash.

if you want a phone to last, alcatel would be the best bet. me and my dad used alcatel before and it lasted for years as well with my cousins who also used alcatel. right now im using alcatel blaze, and i can say durable talaga siya(plus the battery would last aaround 2-3 days. 1 day if on maximum use, 2-3 days if text, tawag and surf). nahulog na ang phone ko sa daan. ang back casing lang ang natanggal and intact pa rin ang battery and on pa rin a phone ko considering it fell around 3.5 feet to the ground. ganyan ka tibay ang alcatel. im considering to get this phone because of the specs(and the quality of alcatel). i would rather pay more than buy cheap phones that wouldn’t last a year(especially after getting dropped).

I made a DA (decision analysis) of various dual sim smart phones. Alcatel OT Explore 997D came as #1, Lenovo P700 & MyPhone A919 as #2, and Lenovo S880 #3. My basis for selection are:

Alcatel was compared to Samsung Galaxy Duos at geekaphone.com and came to be the winner. It also won over Samsung Galaxy S2 and even to iPhone 4S.

P9,990 lang ang alcatel 997d sa sm megamall cyberzone. i tested it and it doesn’t look cheap. stylish design with great specs like 1GB RAM. it’s smooth, no lags at all. i’m definitely buying this after looking at different phones.

di naman siguro. right now hindi pa siya gaano mabili kasi medyo may kamahalan para sa karaniwang pinoy. yung cherry mobile ang mas prefer nila kasi 5-6K lang same specs. ako naman, wala pa akong tiwala sa quality ng cherry mobile saka hindi ko gusto ang design nila, napaka-generic. ang alcatel hindi mukhang cheap. bibili na ako sa next sweldo.
mura nga ang cherry mobile o kung anumang brand na bilhin mo pero kung masisira naman agad, sayang lang ang pinambili mo. mas mabuting magdagdag ka na lang ng konti para may peace of mind ka na hindi agad-agad masisira ang phone mo.

bro, ano ba ang hanap mo sa isang phone? kung para sa text and calls lang plus music, you may consider other alcatel models with lower specs, mas mura syempre. kasi yang 997d pwede sa games like temple run saka video. kung di ka naman mag-games or manonood ng movies, try mo mas murang models. ok din ang myphone. or kung gusto mo ng kilalang brand, try mo sony. meron silang models na less than 10k pero lower specs compared sa alcatel 997d.

Di ko pa natry ang video call ng skype pero sa video call ng yahoo messenger ay ok naman siya. Sa palagay ko, pwede siya sa skype dahil Android 4.0 na siya. Ang pamangkin ko ay gumagamit ng skype sa cherry mobile niya na Android 2.3 lang pero pwede ang video call.

got my alcatel ot-997d, bought at mx store at megamall more than a month na, at first balak ko lang tingnan iyun actual unit, dahil balak ko kunin iyun samsung galaxy s duos sa globe ( mag shell out lang ako ng 3k+ for plan 499/month)dahil kailangan ko ng dualsim phone para isa nalang dadalhin ko, pero napabili ako ng alcatel ot-997d, at matapos ko bilhin iyun unit, isa sa problema ay walang mabiling accessories, like protective case, matte screen protector, leather case, etc. (pero pag tinignan mo sa alcatel website mayroon sila, pero nag inquire ako wala silang reply deadma) with regards sa phone quality, iba pa rin iyun samsung at htc, iyun unit nabili, lahat ng mga apps naka-preinstalled ay demo version lang hindi mo magamit, tapos makalipas ng ilan araw, palagi na nag re-restart ng magisa iyun phone, tapos may time na nag ha-hang (blackout)ng walang dahilan, kailangan ko pa tangalin iyun battery para mag restart iyun phone… tsk tsk mayroon na kaya sa inyo nakabili ng unit nagkaroon din ng parehong problema? or baka “lemon phone” iyun nabili ko?
Wala namang problema sa Alcatel 997D na nabili ko. Nabili ko to December pa. Although, totoo ang sinabi mo na wala kang mabiling accessories. Pero ang screen protector ay may kasama siya sa package. Kung wala man ang sa yo, pwede namang i-cut sa pagbibilha mo. Di ako nagsisisi sa pagbili ng phone ko. It is really by far better than samsung galaxy duos. Napatunayan ko yan dahil ang office mate ko, galaxy duos ang phone. Infact, may officemate din ako na ang cellphone ay Iphone, better din ang Alcatel 997D. Although, his phone is ony Iphone 3GS. Marami nga siyang pre-insatlled na demo application, pwede itong tanggalin at mag-install ng iba from Google Play. Kung dati ka nang gumagamit ng android cellphone, lahat may demo application. Mapa-samsung, myphone o kahit sony.
Hindi po ba nag-iinit yung phone pagnag-cha-charge at nagsasabing “Your battery is in high temperature” parang ganun?

may naka-install nang screen protector ang 997d. pero nung bibili na ako, nalaman ko na 512gb lang pala ang ram nito instead of 1gb. importante kasi sa akin ang 1gb ram.
yung isang officemate ko, 997d ang gamit. pag tinatanong ko siya kung ok, sabi niya walang problema at happy siya. yun nga lang, wala talagang accessories na mabili kaya ingat na lang sa paggamit.
