Before things get heated up on this year’s Mobile World Congress, Alcatel decides to get a good head start from its peers by announcing its latest flagship smartphone, the Alcatel Idol 4S.
We’ve first told you about the Idol 4S when rumors about its fancy packaging surfaced on the web, claiming that it can double as a virtual-reality box similar to a Google Cardboard. True enough, Alcatel’s new flagship device will inside come inside a box that can easily be transformed into a VR kit.
There’s more to this new smartphones though than just its gimmicky retail packaging. As a matter of fact, the handset is packed with a lot of features that will surely put a smile even on the most nitpicky smartphone enthusiast.
Fronting the device is a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Quad-HD resolution. Above it is an 8-megapixel shooter with an accompanying LED flash to give users additional light source during poor lighting conditions. On the other side, there’s a 16-megapixel rear camera paired to an f/2.0 lens that’s capable of shooting 2160p videos at 30fps.
Running under the Alcaltel Idol 4S’ hood is a Snapdragon 652 processor that’s backed by an Adreno 510 doing the heavylifting on the graphics end, as well a decent 3GB of RAM. The handset also sport a sizeable 32GB internal storage which can be further expanded for an additional 200GB through a MicroSD card that takes up the SIM 2 slot.
Other notable features of the Idol 4S include Android Marshmallow, top of the line wireless suite comprising of a dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, and NFC, two 3.6-watt front-mounted speakers, and a respectable 3,000mAh battery pack.
