iOS 11.2.5 out now, features support for HomePod
Apple just released the HomePod compatible iOS 11.2.5, available for the public who use compatible devices. The update size varies for every device, but comes at around 170MB for iPhone 8 Plus units.
iOS 11.2.5 comes with support for HomePod, Apple’s very own smart speakers. Through the update, users can also import their Apple ID, Music, Siri, and Wi-Fi settings to the new smart speakers. Relatedly, pre-orders for the HomePod begin Friday this week, and Apple expects to ship them out on February 9.
Siri can also now read the news to its users, all with but a command. She can pull news from various categories like business, music, or sports. This feature seems more or less targeted for potential users of their new smart speakers. Of course, many can still use it to catch up with current events on the drive or commute to work or school.
Finally, the latest iOS 11.2.5 update comes with bug fixes and performance improvements, as customary.
