Qualcomm has just announced three new Snapdragon processors – the Snapdragon 625 and 435 octa core processors and the Snapdragon 425 quad core processor. Offering camera, video gaming and connectivity improvements, the power-packed processors are expected to be employed by smartphones in the second half of this year.
The first Snapdragon processor in its class to use 14nm (nanometer) technology, the Snapdragon 625 processor provides up to 35 percent power efficiency. It has an integrated X9 LTE modem which supports 4G+ technology with upload speeds of up to 150Mbps or 3x faster than the traditional LTE devices. The Snapdragon 625 processor supports 4K videos and up to 24MP cameras and 13MP front-facing cameras. The Snapdragon 625 processor uses an Adreno 506 GPU with Vulkan API support.
The Snapdragon 435 is the first processor in its class to integrate an X8 LTE modem, also with 4G+ support with download speeds up to 300Mbps and upload speeds up to 100Mbps. Its cameras can output up to 21MP high resolution photos and feature hybrid autofocus. The Snapdragon 435 uses a PC-class Adreno 505 GPU.
The latest Snapdragon 400 series processor, the Snapdragon 425 uses a 64-bit quad core ARM Cortex A53 CPU and an Adreno 308 GPU. It can carry up to 16MP camera and uses an X6 LTE modem with upload speeds of up to 75Mbps.
